Servicing Fires with Bespoke.

The maintenance of any fireplace should be a regular task completed on a (minimum) annual basis. Whilst the burning of coal or wood usually suggests more frequent upkeep, through experience we are aware of a popular misconception that gas fires somehow don’t require the same regime. However, both HETAS & GasSafe recommend that all gas appliances in your property need to be safety checked by a registered engineer annually and serviced according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Our Gas Fire service –
Remove debris and dust from the fire
Remove the coals or topping to clean
Disconnect gas supply and remover burner assembly
Check pilot and gas valve assembly
We would also recommend the chimney or flue is swept to remove any build-up of soot or debris which comes with a written report
At the end of the service we will provide you with a Gas safety certificate.

Our Wood or Solid fuel Fire service –
Check rope seals around the door and replace where necessary
Clean out debris from the firebox
Remove and clean the fire bricks, baffle, grate and ash pan
Vacuum and clean glass

HETAS & GasSafe recommend having your chimney swept at least twice a year when burning wood or coal and at least once a year when burning smokeless fuels. The best times to have your chimney swept are just before the start of the heating season and after your stove has not been used over a prolonged period.

Service and Maintenance Contracts

Once your new fire has been installed it is important to make sure it is regularly maintained. Both stoves and flue liners need to be serviced regularly for safety reasons but also in-line with the manufacturer’s instructions. Failure to do so may affect how they work and invalidate the remainder of any warranty. All documentation relating to servicing and maintenance should be kept.

Fortunately, at Bespoke we offer full after-sales support and will write to you to let you know when your fireplace and/or flue needs to be serviced. Alternatively speak to our in-house team to take advantage of the discounted annual service and maintenance plan.
